RETREAT/WORKSHOP DESCRIPTIONS

The Spirituality of Aging
The elder years are an opportunity to celebrate the winter grace of wisdom, courage and surrender. It is a time to listen deeply to our lives and re-discover the deep mystery of God’s presence in our lives. This retreat will invite us to reflect on the spiritual tasks of the elder, the abundance of life lessons, and the call to question and forgive.

Hope That Endures – Hope That Sustains
Does the story that I am telling with my life include hope? Do I believe that hope lies in the memory of God’s previous generosity?
Where do we find hope today? How do we retrieve hope if we lose it? This retreat will explore these questions while celebrating hope’s power to transform our world and our lives.

Becoming Wisdom
“Wisdom is found by those who look for her.” (Wisdom 6:13) This retreat will offer participants an opportunity to explore this virtue as a different way of seeing and knowing. Silence and reflection, discussion and prayer will allow us to deepen wisdom and invoke Sophia.

The Great Grace of Gratitude
Meister Eckhard said that if the only prayer you said in your whole life was “thank you”, that would be sufficient. This retreat is an invitation to enter deeply the world of gratitude. We will explore the many practices that allow us to count mercies, express thanks, and become a person of gratitude.

Courage – A Gift from the Heart
Do you think of yourself as a person of courage? Is it possible for fear and courage to co-exist? Many believe that the more we use courage to get through the day, the more courage there is. This retreat invites the participants to examine courage as a gift – as a power – from the heart. We will identify people of courage and acts of courage. There will be time for conversation and silence; prayer and creative expression; laughter and rest.

Creating Sanctuary
Sanctuary is that unhurried place that restores us, replenishes us, grounds us, and renews us. It is a place where we are most ourselves and where we know what is most important to us. This retreat allows us to look at Sanctuary with new eyes and a new heart. Through conversation, silence, prayer and creative expression, participants will look at how to create and sustain sanctuary within our ordinary lives.
